{"id":1130,"date":"2013-03-21T15:37:31","date_gmt":"2013-03-21T19:37:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heavytopspin.com\/?p=1130"},"modified":"2013-03-21T15:37:31","modified_gmt":"2013-03-21T19:37:31","slug":"new-updates-and-new-toys-on-tennisabstract-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennisabstract.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/21\/new-updates-and-new-toys-on-tennisabstract-com\/","title":{"rendered":"New Updates and New Toys on TennisAbstract.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been working quite a bit lately on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennisabstract.com\/\">TennisAbstract.com<\/a>, and I hope you&#8217;ve noticed.<\/p>\n<p>First and foremost,\u00a0<strong>player pages are updating mid-tournament<\/strong><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>Usually within an hour or two of the end of each match. \u00a0For instance, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennisabstract.com\/cgi-bin\/player.cgi?p=OlivierRochus\">Olivier Rochus<\/a>, who qualified in Miami and has now reached the second round. \u00a0While stats such as ace rate aren&#8217;t yet available for current-week matches, most filters do consider them. \u00a0You know, just in case you&#8217;re wondering about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennisabstract.com\/cgi-bin\/player.cgi?p=OlivierRochus&amp;f=ACareerqqNJPNqq\">Rochus&#8217;s career record against the Japanese<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Next, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennisabstract.com\/\">TennisAbstract.com<\/a> now works in all major browsers, including Internet Explorer. \u00a0Since the beginning of the site, I developed it only for Google Chrome. \u00a0It mostly worked in Firefox until, several week ago, it suddenly didn&#8217;t. \u00a0(The site depends on a few thousand lines of Javascript, and every browser interprets Javascript a little differently, except for IE, which reads it\u00a0<em>much<\/em> differently.) \u00a0The site is now functioning normally in Firefox. \u00a0While it now works in IE, applying filters is painfully slow. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know exactly why. \u00a0I hope that you are using Firefox or Chrome at home, and if you have to use IE at work, your employer changes their ways soon.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also added a few rankings reports. \u00a0First is the Country Rankings page for both <a href=\"http:\/\/tennisabstract.com\/reports\/countryRankings.html\">men<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/tennisabstract.com\/reports\/countryRankingsWta.html\">women<\/a>, which shows you the top three players for each country. \u00a0It&#8217;s particularly interesting to see who the best national #2&#8217;s and #3&#8217;s are, along with the countries that have just one or two top-flight players. Second, there&#8217;s a &#8220;lefties only&#8221; ranking list for both <a href=\"http:\/\/tennisabstract.com\/reports\/leftyRankings.html\">men<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/tennisabstract.com\/reports\/leftyRankingsWta.html\">women<\/a>. \u00a0Also, I&#8217;ve filled out the history of <a href=\"http:\/\/tennisabstract.com\/reports\/rankingsByAgeWta.html\">WTA Rankings by Age<\/a>&#8211;you can now see year-end age-group rankings for any of the last 30 years. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tennisabstract.com\/reports\/rankingsByAgeWta2000.html\">Here&#8217;s 2000.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, ATP entry lists are now available, updated several times per day. \u00a0For example, here&#8217;s the list for next week&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennisabstract.com\/entrylists\/2013-LeGosier-EntryList.html\">Le Gosier challenger<\/a>. \u00a0These lists show who is scheduled to play every event in the next six weeks or so, along with alternates and withdrawals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennisabstract.com\/\">Enjoy!<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been working quite a bit lately on TennisAbstract.com, and I hope you&#8217;ve noticed.
