Episode 16 of the Tennis Abstract Podcast<\/a>, with\u00a0Carl Bialik<\/a>, didn’t quite work out as planned — my microphone malfunctioned for much of the first half of the recording — but the second half of our conversation could be salvaged. Thus, this episode is missing the big news of the second week, the all-American women’s semifinals, but we still touched on a variety of burning US Open topics, like the youngsters making news in New York and the inevitable hypotheticals of the players who weren’t able to participate in Flushing this year.<\/p>\n
